Dr. Gazit is a specialist in bariatric
medicine, the field that deals with obesity and weight loss. He became
Board Certified (Diplomate) in Bariatric Medicine after he passed
both extensive written and oral examinations, as well as an onsite,
peer-reviewed Patient Care Review. |

Obesity, declared a specific disease entity by the
National Institutes of Health, is believed to affect more than 58
million people across the nation and has been established as a major
risk factor for hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus
and some cancers in both men and women. |

Dr. Gazit joined Medical Weight Control and Nutrition
in 1996 and became Medical Director of the practice in 1997. Working
six days a week, Dr. Gazit has treated thousands of overweight and
obese patients. He has also cared for the extremely challenging morbidly
obese (>100 lbs. overweight) patients with co-morbid medical conditions. |

Dr. Gazit earned his Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.) in 1989
and his Medical Degree in 1993.
He did his hospital training
at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center (Columbia College of Physicians
and Surgeons) in New York. |

Dr. Gazit has also conducted medical research, presented
at major medical conferences and published papers in medical journals.
He spent several years at "renown" institutions such as
the National Institutes of Health (Bethesda, Maryland) and the Los
Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center. |

Dr. Gazit is married and lives in New York City with
his wife Ornit, his son Jordan, and dog Spike). His hobbies include sports, traveling and
reading.
